First Quarter Home Sales Are Highest In 12 Years

The real estate market in the High Country had its best first quarter in five years with continuing steady growth after what appears to have been bottoming out in 2010 according to a report by the High Country Association of REALTORS.

From January through March of this year, there were 234 realtor assisted property sales in Avery, Ashe, and Watauga counties with total sales being $61.25 million as recorded by the High Country Multiple Listing Service (MLS). These numbers are 27% higher than Jan - March of last year and more than 60% higher than 2010.
